Job Description

With a strong reputation built on innovation, reliability, and service excellence, our client is seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead its next phase of strategic growth and operational performance.

The Role

As Managing Director, you will hold full P&L and strategic leadership responsibility for the business, guiding its commercial and operational direction. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's vision, driving profitable growth, and ensuring continued excellence across all aspects of sales, production, and customer service.

Your primary focus will be to strengthen the company's market position, enhance commercial performance, and develop a high-performing leadership team aligned with future business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the company, ensuring clear strategic priorities and operational excellence.
  • Develop and execute a robust commercial growth strategy, driving both top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability.
  • Lead, mentor, and empower a team of senior managers across sales, operations, finance, and production.
  • Strengthen customer relationships and identify new business opportunities across key markets.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgets, and forecasts to deliver sustainable growth.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and quality standards remain best in class.
  • Represent the company externally, promoting its brand and building strategic partnerships.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Proven track record in a senior commercial or managing director role, ideally within the print or packaging.
  • Strong strategic sales and business development background.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and delivering profitable growth.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Financially astute with full P&L experience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance strategic vision and hands on delivery.
  • The client will only consider candidates who have come up the commercial / sales route, rather than production / operations or financial.

This role will be on a one year contract at first, and if both parties are happy, progressing to a permanent contract.

What's on Offer

This is a rare opportunity to lead a respected mid sized business with strong foundations and significant growth potential. The successful candidate will join a committed team and have the autonomy to shape the company's next chapter of success.

We ask that you only apply for any of our vacancies if you are resident in the UK and you work / have recently worked in the print, packaging or paper sectors.
