HSBC UK Leveraged Finance ("LF") is seeking an experienced individual to join as a Manager.

HSBC UK Leveraged Finance is a national business with approximately 100 colleagues, covering over 350 clients and a diverse range of Private Equity ("PE") relationships. The business is a market leader, with four key areas of expertise: Origination, Execution, Financial Sponsor Coverage, and Client Coverage. The customer base varies, typically with turnovers from £100m to over £2bn. The team is sector-agnostic, primarily dealing with PE-owned companies. Lending for PE-backed Leveraged Buyouts is complex, requiring sophisticated financial modeling, structuring, and sensitivity analysis.

In this role, you will support the financing process, structure facilities, oversee due diligence, secure internal approvals including credit, and negotiate legal documentation to facilitate debt financing for private equity-led investments or acquisitions.

Role Purpose

The Manager will assist in originating and executing tailored lending solutions that support private equity firms' investments and acquisitions in UK companies.

The team will originate financing opportunities, structure facilities, oversee due diligence, obtain approvals, and negotiate legal documentation for debt arrangements supporting private equity investments or acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage actively in the regional M&A market, representing HSBC and assisting in delivering debt financing opportunities.
  • Negotiate and discuss with Sponsors, M&A advisors, clients, and prospects, sharing experience in managing complex international transactions.
  • Collaborate with team members to structure and deliver credit facilities, identifying risks and ensuring bank security while meeting client needs.
  • Coordinate with other business teams to resource transactions and meet deadlines and milestones.
  • Share best practices to maximize team performance and capability development.
  • Participate in cross-country and cross-business teamwork aligned with HSBC's values and growth plans.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in Leveraged Finance environment.
  • Experience advising or financing M&A transactions involving private equity.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to analyze and summarize complex information under pressure.
  • Proficiency in credit analysis, financial modeling, and risk management.
  • Relevant qualifications or willingness to undertake necessary training, including the Certificate in Corporate Finance within a year.
  • Flexibility to work across UK offices as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience supporting team performance and development.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a good understanding of financial statements.

This is a hybrid role based in Bristol, with travel to nearby locations required.

Regulatory and Qualifications

HSBC is required to obtain references covering the past six years under FCA regulations.

This role requires the candidate to meet FCA Certification Regime standards. Candidates should have or commit to obtaining the CISI Level 3 Certificate in Corporate Finance within one year of joining.
