Job Description

Accounts Manager

Location: Chard, Somerset

The position is full time, 37.5 hours per week.

Despite having nearly 100 employees, this practice has maintained a genuine 'open door' culture. Directors remain approachable, hierarchy is kept to a minimum, and staff are encouraged to collaborate and learn from one another. The environment is supportive and laid back rather than overly corporate, making it a great fit for those who value teamwork and accessibility to senior leadership.

  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients and their portfolios
  • Reviewing accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, and preparing insightful reports
  • Drafting professional correspondence and letters to clients
  • Raising accurate invoices in a timely manner
  • Ensuring deadlines are met for both you and your team
  • Monitoring and following up on outstanding client fees
  • Handling new client enquiries with confidence and clarity
  • Supporting directors with their workload as needed
  • Liaising with external stakeholders such as HMRC on behalf of clients

What We are Looking For

We're seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in accountancy practice (ideally ACA/ACCA qualified or part-qualified)
  • A confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
  • Organised, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools
  • Medical accounts experience is not necessary and full training will be given

Why Join ?

We are a well-established firm with a reputation for quality and client care. You will be part of a supportive team, with opportunities to develop and grow professionally.

We provide staff with a wide range of benefits, including private medical insurance, company pension, flexible schedule, on-site parking, sick pay, wellness programmes and company events, hybrid working, paid overtime (or opportunity to take any overtime as additional holiday), 25 days holiday plus bank hols, competitive salary.

Retaining a loyal team of staff is key to providing continuity of service to our clients who appreciate dealing with individuals who have built up a good relationship with them and have a detailed knowledge of their business.
