Job Title: Major Loss Claims Handler - Catastrophic Injury

Location: Leicester, London or Bexhill (hybrid with good flexibility)

Role Overview

As part of a dynamic, forward thinking team, you will handle complex catastrophic injury claims, driving speedy resolution and providing technical expertise across the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively manage a portfolio of high value complex injury claims with a financial handling authority of at least £3million.
• Refer any claims beyond the authority limit in accordance with the referral process.
• Drive early and speedy resolution by engaging with customers, insurers, legal and medical professionals.
• Ensure new and reallocated claims are reserved within SLA.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and training, acting as a technical referral point.
• Conduct technical audits, record findings, and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with seniors on the bi annual tech forum and strategic projects.
• Maintain reinsurer confidence through timely reporting and updates as per reinsurance treaty.

Qualifications & Experience

• Substantial experience settling claims exceeding £1million, including litigation.
• Current authority to handle claims of at least £3million.
• Strong knowledge of indemnity, liability, Civil Procedure Rules, Serious Injury Guide, Rehabilitation Code and litigation procedures.
• Excellent problem solving skills, proactive approach and ability to prioritise workload.
• Strong communication skills with influencing and negotiation abilities.
• DIP CII qualification or progression toward it desirable.
