Maintenance Operative

Location: King Edward VI College, Stourbridge

Contract: Full-time (37 hours per week), all year round

Working hours

Core hours are Monday to Thursday: 8.00 am to 4.00 pm and Friday: 8.00 am to 3.30 pm. You will be required to be on the locking up rota.

Salary

SFCA support staff pay scale 13 - 17 (£30,444 - £34,253)

Role overview

We are seeking a practical, reliable and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our Estates Team. This is an important role in helping to ensure that our buildings, facilities and grounds are safe, well maintained and provide an excellent environment for learning.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, including general building maintenance, minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, whilst responding to day to day maintenance requests across the site. They will also support compliance activities, including routine health and safety checks, fire safety inspections and maintaining accurate records to help ensure the college meets its statutory obligations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with good practical skills, a strong awareness of health and safety, and the ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a busy team. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining high standards, demonstrate a flexible approach to work and be committed to providing excellent service to staff, students and visitors.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with maintenance or caretaking experience who is looking to develop their skills within a supportive educational environment and play a key role in the day to day operation of the college.
