Key ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our manufacturing equipment and facility. This position involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair tasks and contract management, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. The Maintenance Engineer will collaborate closely with various departments to implement continuous improvement initiatives, uphold safety standards, manage maintenance documentation and inventory.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract. The shift pattern is for nights 22:00 - 06:00.
Key accountabilities include:
- Preventive Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities for all machinery and equipment to minimise downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and control system issues on production equipment promptly to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Technical Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities and Maintenance departments to coordinate maintenance activities and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all company health and safety regulations, including contributing to health and safety initiatives and activities.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and equipment performance using the Accruent CMMS system.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory, controlling costs within budget.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency and unplanned maintenance issues, providing quick and effective solutions.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to production staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
- Significant experience working in manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of injection moulding machines.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with BS EN ISO 14644 clean room requirements, BS EN ISO 9001 and cGMP standards.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including MUDA, 6S and Kaizen - highly desirable.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with attention to detail.
- Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical skills, hydraulic and pneumatics an advantage.
- Certification: Qualification in Electrical Installation Condition Reporting (EICR) is an advantage; 18th edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and apprenticeship served.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant IT tools.
- PLC Experience: Good understanding of logic control and programming (Rockwell software preferable).
