Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our manufacturing equipment and facility. This position involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair tasks, and contract management, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. The Maintenance Engineer will collaborate closely with various departments to implement continuous improvement initiatives, uphold safety standards, manage maintenance documentation and inventory.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract. The shift pattern is for nights 22:00 - 06:00am

• Preventive Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities for all machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on production equipment promptly to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Technical Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Maintenance departments to coordinate maintenance activities and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all company health and safety regulations, including contributing to health and safety initiatives and activities.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance using the Accruent (CMMS) system.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain spare parts inventory, controlling costs within budget.
• Emergency Response: Respond to emergency and unplanned maintenance issues, providing quick and effective solutions.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support and training to production staff on the proper use and maintenance of equipment.

Skills and Experience

• Significant experience working in manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of injection molding machines.
• Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with BS EN ISO 14644 cleanroom requirements, BS EN ISO 9001, and cGMP standards.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
• Problem-Solving: Proven ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Lean Manufacturing: Understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including MUDA, 6S, and Kaizen, is highly desirable.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with attention to detail.
• Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical skills; hydraulic and pneumatics would be an advantage.
• Certification: Electrical Installation Condition Reporting (EICR) qualification is an advantage; 18th edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and apprenticeship served.
• IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant IT tools.
• PLC Experience: Good understanding of logic control and programming, Rockwell software preferable.
