Maintenance Technicians are required to join a fast-paced department in Solihull.
Our client is a world-leading automotive manufacturer of prestige and high-value motor vehicles. With an evolving heritage and a promising future, along with two of the world's most iconic brands, our client is renowned globally for pushing boundaries of innovation and setting industry standards.
They are currently seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to join their team in Solihull. This role is offered on a contract basis, initially for 3 months, with potential to extend to 12 months or become permanent for the right candidates with suitable qualifications.
This multi-skilled role offers a unique opportunity to join a highly skilled, dynamic maintenance team. The manufacturing assets include advanced technologies such as automated multi-axis robots, welding and joining equipment, laser systems, conveyors, tooling, and lifting equipment.
You will be responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by maintaining all assets and equipment to maximize production efficiency, ensuring high standards of maintenance and operational reliability.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities according to schedules.
- Diagnosing faults and rectifying issues on plant and equipment.
- Identifying root causes of faults to improve asset performance and reliability.
- Responding swiftly to plant breakdowns, adhering to company procedures and standards.
- Providing process knowledge and guidance for Kaizen activities within production and maintenance teams.
- Managing 5S and workplace organization activities.
- Applying lean manufacturing techniques to improve processes and layouts.
- Implementing process modifications and updating documentation accordingly.
- Offering technical expertise for problem-solving activities, accurately identifying root causes and corrective actions.
The ideal Maintenance Technician will have:
Essential:
- A recognized apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering maintenance.
- Strong electrical and mechanical competencies in maintenance engineering.
- Experience in fault diagnosis, rectification, and planned/corrective maintenance in an industrial setting.
- Ability to identify root causes of failures and implement permanent solutions.
- Proficiency in reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility and teamwork skills to adapt to changing business needs.
- A proactive, results-oriented attitude with a can-do approach.
- Willingness to work rotational shifts.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of automation, control systems, robotics, welding, conveyors, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and control systems.
- Previous experience with ABB robots.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies like TPM, 5S, Kaizen, and PPS.
- Experience with CMMS platforms.
- Understanding of PUWER regulations.
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Automotive maintenance experience (advantageous but not essential).
- Knowledge of Quality Operating Systems.
Working hours: 37 hours per week, depending on shift, plus overtime, on a rotating shift pattern.
