Role Overview

This role owns the engineering and reliability of Planet's Microsoft 365 and collaboration platforms - Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams and Teams Voice, Slack, Microsoft Defender, and Copilot. Day to day, you will configure, secure, and optimise these services so a global workforce can communicate and collaborate reliably, with strong messaging security and governed adoption of AI.

What you will do

• Microsoft 365 engineering -Own and operate Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive, including configuration, governance, and lifecycle.
• Teams & collaboration -Engineer Microsoft Teams and Slack - governance, policies, apps, and the collaboration experience.
• Teams Voice -Configure and support Teams Phone / Voice, including calling policies, numbering, and call quality.
• Messaging security -Operate Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (L2) - anti-phishing, Safe Links and Safe Attachments, and threat response.
• Copilot & AI adoption -Deploy and govern Microsoft 365 Copilot - licensing, data readiness, permissions, and safe adoption.
• Compliance & governance -Apply retention, DLP, and information-protection policies across the M365 estate in line with PCI DSS and security standards.
• Automation -Automate M365 administration with PowerShell and the Microsoft Graph API.
• Escalation & 3rd line -Act as the highest escalation point for M365 and collaboration incidents and problems.
• Continuous improvement -Monitor service health and adoption; improve reliability, security, and user experience.

Reliable, secure, and well-governed M365 and collaboration services for a global workforce - strong messaging security, high call quality, and safe, measurable Copilot adoption.

Who you are

• Deep hands-on Microsoft 365 engineering - Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
• Strong Microsoft Teams administration, including Teams Phone / Voice.
• Experience administering Slack in an enterprise environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (anti-phishing, Safe Links / Attachments, threat response).
• Experience deploying and governing Microsoft 365 Copilot, or strong readiness to.
• Understanding of M365 compliance - retention, DLP, and information protection.
• Strong scripting with PowerShell and the Microsoft Graph API.
• Experience in a regulated, ITIL change-controlled environment.
• Microsoft 365 certification (e.g. MS-700 / MS-102) desirable.
