Manchester £75,000 - £95,000 + Bonus + Benefits Flexible Working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Corporate Tax or M&A Tax professional to join the established transactions tax team of a leading Big 4 accountancy practice in Manchester.

Working with a broad range of private equity investors, credit funds, financial institutions and corporate clients, this position offers exposure to complex and high-value transactions across the UK and international markets.

The role will involve advising clients throughout the transaction lifecycle, including acquisitions, disposals, tax due diligence, transaction structuring, refinancing and corporate reorganisations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious tax professional who enjoys technically challenging advisory work and wants to play a significant role in delivering major transactions. You will work closely with experienced Partners and Directors, develop relationships with high-profile clients and take responsibility for managing and developing junior colleagues.

The position would suit an existing M&A Tax Senior Manager or an experienced Corporate Tax professional with strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in developing their career within transaction advisory.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead and manage tax advisory assignments relating to mergers, acquisitions, disposals, refinancing and corporate restructuring.
  • Advise private equity houses, credit funds, financial institutions and corporate clients on the tax implications of proposed transactions.
  • Manage buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence projects, identifying potential exposures, assessing commercial risks and presenting findings to clients.
  • Provide advice on UK and international tax structuring, helping clients understand the most effective approaches to completing transactions.
  • Review complex tax computations, financial information, transaction documentation and financial models to identify tax risks and opportunities.
  • Work alongside legal advisers, corporate finance specialists and other professional advisers to support the successful completion of transactions.
  • Prepare and review detailed technical advice, reports and client presentations covering a wide range of corporate and transaction tax matters.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring assignments are delivered to a high standard.
  • Manage and develop junior team members, providing technical guidance, coaching and support.
  • Work closely with Partners and Directors to identify opportunities, contribute to client proposals and support the development of new business.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different specialist tax teams and international offices on complex cross-border assignments.

Experience and qualifications

  • CTA, ACA, CA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK Corporate Tax, ideally developed within an accountancy practice or professional services environment.
  • Previous experience in M&A Tax, transaction advisory, corporate restructuring or tax due diligence would be advantageous.
  • An interest in advising private equity, credit fund and corporate clients on complex transactions.
  • Experience managing complex client assignments, working to demanding deadlines and delivering high-quality technical advice.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify tax risks and explain their potential financial implications to clients.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with confidence dealing directly with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience supervising, coaching or developing junior colleagues.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively alongside other professional advisers.

Applications are welcomed from experienced Corporate Tax professionals looking to develop their exposure to M&A and transaction advisory, as well as those already specialising in this area.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of £75,000 - £95,000 depending on experience.
  • Performance-related bonus scheme.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Generous annual leave.
  • Option to purchase additional annual leave.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Car cash allowance.
  • Life assurance and income protection.
  • Access to health and wellbeing support, including employee assistance services.
  • Flexible benefits, including options for dental cover, additional insurance and lifestyle discounts.
  • Excellent opportunities for continued professional development, technical training and career progression.
  • Exposure to major UK and international transactions and the opportunity to work alongside highly experienced tax and advisory professionals.

Company culture

This opportunity is with one of the UK's leading Big 4 accountancy practices, offering the resources and international reach of a major professional services organisation alongside the opportunity to develop a rewarding career within a specialist advisory team.

The transactions tax department works closely with private equity investors, financial institutions and corporate clients, providing advice on complex and commercially significant transactions.

The working environment is collaborative, with professionals from different technical backgrounds coming together to deliver solutions for clients. You will have the opportunity to work directly with senior leaders, build your own client relationships and contribute to the continued success of the team.

There is a strong emphasis on personal development, with opportunities to broaden your technical expertise, take on increasing responsibility and progress towards Director and potentially Partner level over time.

The firm also recognises the importance of flexibility and work-life balance, with arrangements that can be discussed to accommodate individual circumstances and client commitments.
