About Safran Nacelles:

Safran Nacelles is a worldwide leader in aircraft engine nacelles. Our products and services equip all aircraft types; regional, business, short, medium and long-range commercial aircraft. Our expertise covers nacelle design, manufacturing, integration, maintenance and services. Our site in Burnley provides employment to almost 700 people and we are proud to be one of the largest private sector employers in Burnley.

As a Low Carbon Trainee, you'll help drive Safran's sustainability journey and support projects that reduce energy use and carbon emissions across the site. You'll gain hands on experience while working alongside experienced professionals in the field.

In this role, you will:
  • Help monitor and analyse the site's energy consumption and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support projects that reduce carbon emissions and improve environmental performance.
  • Collect, review and report sustainability and energy data using company systems and reporting tools.
  • Work with colleagues across the business to identify energy saving opportunities and support improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with the delivery of climate action and carbon reduction plans.
  • Support the management of environmental and energy performance indicators.
  • Help prepare reports and presentations for business reviews and sustainability meetings.
  • Assist with audits and compliance activities, ensuring accurate records and documentation are maintained.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and business cases for future sustainability projects.
  • Gain exposure to internationally recognised energy management standards and best practices.

Candidate skills & requirements What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is passionate about sustainability and keen to build a career in energy management and carbon reduction. This is a development opportunity, so we're more interested in your potential, attitude, and willingness to learn than extensive industry experience.

Essential Skills & Attributes
  • An interest in sustainability, energy management, environmental performance, or carbon reduction.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, summarise, and present data.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills with the confidence to work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Basic project management skills or an interest in managing projects.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to influence, educate, and engage colleagues to support sustainability initiatives.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Some knowledge of energy management, energy performance, energy metering, or technical installations.
  • Experience gained through education, work placements, volunteering, apprenticeships, or employment within sustainability, environmental, or energy-related activities.
  • Experience working with data, reporting, or performance metrics.
  • Understanding of manufacturing, facilities, engineering, or operational environments.
  • Awareness of environmental challenges and a desire to contribute to climate change solutions.
