As part of the Müller UK & Ireland Group, MMID operates a nationwide logistics network across multiple dairies and distribution depots, delivering over 1 billion litres of milk annually to more than 6,000 locations. MMID optimizes its supply chain to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and service quality. The company sources milk from around 1,300 British farms, supporting local agriculture while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and environmental responsibility.
About the RoleWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics Operations Manager to lead our Tanker Logistics team in Skelmersdale. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the cost efficient collection and delivery of raw milk while maintaining exceptional service standards. You'll lead a high performing team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with all legal and safety standards.
Contract: Full Time/Permanent
Shift: Monday Friday (40 hours)
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop a high performing logistics team.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
- Manage depot operations, including rota planning, staffing, and cost control.
- Deliver against KPIs and OGSM targets.
- Drive customer service excellence for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives.
- Ensure legal compliance for drivers and vehicles.
- Conduct performance reviews, training, and disciplinary procedures.
- Proven experience in senior level transport operations.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Knowledge of haulage legislation and employment law.
- ICT proficiency and data driven decision making skills.
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (A-C or equivalent)
- O Licence CPC Certification
- IOSH Certification
- Experience in milk and/or food logistics
- Familiarity with unionised environments (e.g., USDAW)
