This is a great opportunity to lead logistics at a busy, highly regulated site, making sure materials move safely and efficiently to support our renewable fuel production.

Main purpose of the role:

To lead the Logistics Team responsible for the scheduling, receipt, dispatch, and movement of materials (feedstock, chemicals, and finished products), ensuring services are delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The Logistics Manager also oversees the facilities management contractors who provide general site services.

What you will be doing:
  1. Coach and motivate the logistics team by setting clear objectives and delivering training and development plans to ensure competence.
  2. Manage relationships with haulage partners to secure reliable, high quality, and cost effective transport services.
  3. Optimise logistics plans and site loading activities to improve service levels, reduce operational costs and reduce carbon footprint.
  4. Ensure all transport documentation, including ADR, Dangerous Goods Notes, and export paperwork, is accurate, complete, and compliant.
  5. Oversee the facilities management contract to ensure effective delivery of site services, including site cleaning, laundry, and waste disposal.
  6. Develop and approve department policies and procedures to ensure compliance company, regulatory, safety, quality and environmental and security requirements.
  7. Develop and monitor relevant KPIs to monitor and improve the performance of the logistics function.
Your key relationships will be:
  1. Transport and Planning; to align logistics with S&OP.
  2. Operations; to coordinate movements and support production schedules.
  3. Third party transport providers and facilities contractor; to ensure service is in line with contract and SLAs.
Skills and behaviours you will need to be successful:
  • Transport planning and optimisation (essential)
  • Hazardous goods knowledge (ADR/IMDG/IATA) (essential)
  • Permit to Work processes (essential)
  • Familiar with REACH, CLP, COSHH, and GHS classifications (essential)
  • Familiar with COMAH / Seveso III requirements (desirable)
  • DSEAR / ATEX awareness (desirable)
  • IT / ERP systems experience (oracle desirable)
  • Budget Management
  • Strong leadership to inspire commitment and engagement from the team, as well as from colleagues more broadly
  • Able towork under pressure, in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Strong communicator who will collaborate across functions
  • A track record of driving safety, efficiency and service improvements.
Qualifications and experience required:
  • Experience in Logistics or Supply Chain (essential)
  • Logistics / Supply Chain Management degree (desirable)
  • A Levels / HNC or equivalent (essential)
  • IOSH/NEBOSH (desirable)
  • DGSA & ADR (desirable)
