Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a full-time Locum Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics for (Lower limb - Hip and Knees). The post holder would be expected to complement the current workforce in working with the Trauma and Orthopaedic team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy, dynamic multidisciplinary team within one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country. The post holder will work closely with the existing Trauma and Orthopaedics team to deliver high quality patient care across a broad range of services.
The role will be job planned to include 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), aimed at enhancing and supporting the delivery of trauma and orthopaedic services to our diverse population.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate would be managing patients in outpatient clinics, including the fracture and virtual fracture clinics, and they would be involved in triaging duties. They will operate in both elective and trauma theatres. They will provide support and teaching to junior medical staff across Trust sites, and they will also be contributing to service improvement initiatives.

We're looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams, making things easier for staff and better for patients.
Job responsibilitiesThe ideal candidate would be expected to contribute to a regular programme of clinical audit, service evaluation and quality improvement. They will take part in the teaching and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff. You will participate in regular clinical governance meetings, service development sessions and educational forums.

Person Specification Qualifications/Experience- Full GMC Registration or post CCT within 6 months or equivalent qualifications e.g. CESR
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and excellent decision making at consultant level
- General Training in Trauma and Orthopaedics surgery at Consultant level or equivalent
- Experience in managing emergency trauma surgical skills
- National, International Fellowship training
- Commitment to and experience of teaching
