  • UK-Wide Opportunities Medacs Healthcare Job Title: Locum Consultant Rheumatologist Location: Cardiff, South Wales, UK Rate: £100 - £120 per hour.

PAYE only Contract Type: Locum (short-term and long-term assignments available) Start Date: ASAP for 3 months initially, with potential for extension.

Details: Post 1 Full Time Clinical sessions - 6 clinics per week on days to suit the service due to availability of clinic rooms in outpatients.

New clinics initially until follow up demand required - 6 new appts per clinical session.

Location at both UHW and UHL. 1 admin session.

MDT/radiology meeting Wednesday weekly.

Rheumatology service day on-call consultant rota shared with team.

Post 2 Full or Part time Clinical sessions

  • to be agreed depending on full or part time (6/4 sessions). Post required to cover consultant absence and their exiting patient cohort.

Location at both UHW and UHL. 1 admin session.

MDT/radiology Wednesday weekly meeting.

Rheumatology service day on-call consultant rota shared with team.

About the Role

The Consultant Rheumatologist will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with rheumatological conditions, including autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders.

The role involves delivering high-quality clinical care, leading multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to service development and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of rheumatological conditions.
  • Provide outpatient and inpatient care, including complex case management.
  • Lead and supervise junior medical staff and allied health professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance activities.
  • Contribute to teaching, training, and research within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines and maintain accurate patient records.
What We're Looking For - Essential
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • At least 6 months of previous NHS experience
  • A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check
  • or a willingness to undergo one as part of the registration process
  • UK Right to Work
  • Strong communication and teamworking skills
Desirable
  • CCT in Rheumatology
