Locum Consultant Respiratory Physician

This is a 12-month maternity leave cover post from April 2026 in respiratory medicine, based within the Cambridge Centre for Lung Infection (CCLI). The CCLI service comprises the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre, the Lung Defence Clinic and the Immunology Clinic at Royal Papworth Hospital.
The post holder will share responsibility for the inpatient and outpatient care of patients with cystic fibrosis and complex lung infections with 6 other respiratory consultants and 1 immunology consultant. The CCLI consultants provide specialty focused on-call (1:7).

Main duties of the jobTo work with the other CCLI Consultants to provide appropriate inpatient and outpatient care for patients with cystic fibrosis and complex lung infections.
To contribute to the training of junior doctors in accordance with the standards required by Royal College and the Postgraduate Dean.
To demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development.
To support CCLI related research, as part of an agreed research programme, and to contribute to audit activities.

Person Specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP or equivalent
- Respiratory SCE
- Completion of Certificate of Training (CCT) or equivalent
- Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement and prioritise clinical need. Critical and enquiring approach to knowledge acquisition, commitment to self-directed learning and reflective/analytical approach to practice.
- Demonstrates an understanding of principles of research and evidence-based practice
- Takes responsibility for own actions, demonstrates respect for the rights of all. Demonstrates awareness of ethical principles, safety, confidentiality and consent. Awareness of importance of being the patients' advocate and clinical governance responsibility
- Clinical experience of Cystic Fibrosis and Lung Infection management
- Please provide evidence of your commitment to uphold the Trust's values: Compassion, Excellence, Collaboration
- Has current GMC registration
- Has no outstanding fitness to practice issue under investigation
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication with patients and colleagues.
