Main duties of the jobThis Maternity Cover Locum post will support continued provision of our consultant led acute and trauma imaging service covering 8 am to 7 pm. The primary responsibility is to deliver timely high quality acute and trauma imaging. Pursuit of a subspecialty interest aligned with departmental need will be encouraged and supported, with uroradiology being particularly welcome but alternative interests considered.
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe post holder will primarily be expected to provide consultant input for the acute CT service which covers trauma, inpatient and day case CT imaging and to join the diagnostic on call rota. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the imaging department, support the daily clinico radiological trauma meeting and maintain a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and associated professional groups.
Person specification- Registered medical qualification FRCR or equivalent.
- Within six months of the expected date of CCT (or equivalent) on the day of interview.
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g. MD(Res), PhD).
- Full Registration with GMC.
- Name on GMC Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment.
- On the day of interview applicants must be within 6 months of CCT, in final stages of their portfolio pathway application, or be fully registered on the GMC Specialist Register. Any applications not meeting these criteria will not be considered.
- Wide experience in all aspects of Radiology, culminating in award of Certificate of Completion of Training by GMC, or completed portfolio pathway application.
- Experience in day to day organisation of Radiology services in a busy Teaching Hospital.
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
- Familiar with current structure of UK National Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi disciplinary teams.
- Management course and/or qualification.
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit.
- Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
- Audit Publications.
- Experience of clinical research.
- Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of Radiology.
- Publication of relevant review articles or case reports.
- Experience of undergraduate and post graduate teaching and exam preparation.
- Teaching skills course/qualification.
