Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is 40 hours per week over 7 days /1:19 non resident on call.

This is a Fixed term post for 12 months.

Applications are invited for this locum Consultant post which will be based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH). The successful candidate will join an established team of General medicine Consultants. Applicants must have MRCP, full GMC registration and a licence to practise.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training in General Internal Medicine or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of Interview. You should have extensive training in general medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Provide care for inpatients with a range of acute and chronic medical diseases at QEUH (including on call duties) within associated sites in South Sector.
  • Contribute to care provision for inpatients and provide support for scheduled care service provision in an outpatient setting, aligned with NHS GG&C strategy and within the newly formed interface directorate.
  • Tailor some clinical sessions to MHDU, evening or weekend working, on discussion with the successful candidate.
  • Finalize distribution of responsibilities between the appointee and the established consultant team post appointment. Flexibility in timing of sessions, taking into account Bank Holidays, prospective cover in colleagues' absence, and occurrence of ward rounds, will be required.
