Contract: Fixed Term Contract approx. 9 months - Locum Knee Consultant - Full Time (10 PA)

The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is looking for a Locum Knee Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon to join a dynamic team of consultant Hip & Knee surgeons. The appointee will work flexibly within the Hip & Knee team, participate in the multidisciplinary team, manage complex orthopaedic cases and may be expected to participate in the on call rota.

Qualifications & Training

• Full GMC registration and licence to practise
• FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent
• General training in Orthopaedics including Hip & Knee
• 12 months Fellowship in Knee
• Higher medical degree
• CCT in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or on GMC Specialist Register in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or within six months of achieving CCT at time of interview

Experience

• General training in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery to specialist level or equivalent
• Evidence of ability to make decisions at consultant level
• Able to work effectively as part of a multi disciplinary team

Skills and Knowledge

• Excellent leadership skills; evidence of ability to lead a clinical team at the consultant level in a teaching hospital
• Effective administrative and time management skills; training in clinical management; knowledge of NHS organisation
• Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork within a multidisciplinary team
• Basic IT skills
• Experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees and routine clinical audit
• Evidence of effective and sustained contribution to clinical governance, risk management and audit activities
• Experience with electronic patient record and database administration and management
• Experience as a tutor/clinical supervisor to students/junior medical staff
• Peer reviewed publications, research grants
• Access to transport
