Main duties of the jobThis post has been created to support and develop the OMFS service at Homerton University Hospital, and to be part of the Royal London on-call rota, in line with the needs of the two departments. The successful candidate will work as an OMFS Consultant at Homerton Healthcare, primarily in an elective setting, with support to develop their subspecialty interests. The candidate will have regular outpatient and theatre sessions at Homerton Healthcare. Elective clinical activities at Barts Health may be possible when capacities allow.

Job responsibilitiesThe successful candidate will join and participate in the on-call rota covering the CELWEX OMFS network (City, East London, and West Essex). The rota is 1:8, on-call from Friday to Friday, covering The Royal London, St Bartholomew's, Homerton, Whipps Cross, Newham, and Princess Alexandra Hospitals in Harlow. The consultant will also be responsible for teaching Staff Grades and junior staff, and contributing to teaching, audit, and research activities at Homerton Healthcare.

Person Specification Qualifications- FRCS (OMFS) or equivalent
- MFDS or equivalent Higher degree - BSc, MSc, MD, PhD, or equivalent
- Registered on GMC specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining it at the time of the interview
- NHS experience in the last 3 years
- Subspecialist training in OMFS, in an area of interest suitable for the department's development
- Broad-based general professional training in medicine
- Experience in teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff
- Training courses such as Training the Trainers or equivalent
- Understanding of clinical governance principles
- Experience with audit and service improvement
- Knowledge of research methodology
- Evidence of ongoing research interest and achievements
- Training in research methods
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
This post requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 per annum (pro-rata)
