University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist for a 12-month fixed-term post within our internationally recognised oncology service.
The successful candidate will deliver consultant-level care for patients with lung cancer across University College London Hospital and Whittington Hospital, providing systemic anti-cancer therapy and specialist clinical input in both inpatient and outpatient settings. They will also participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and on-call and ward rotas as required, and contribute to the supervision and training of specialty trainees. The role supports governance, service development, and continuous improvement within the wider oncology department, with flexibility to support service evolution across both sites.

Main Duties- Deliver consultant-level medical oncology care for lung cancer patients across UCLH and Whittington Hospital.
- Provide systemic anti-cancer therapy and specialist clinical input in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Participate in MDT meetings, outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and on-call/ward rotas.
- Supervise and train specialty trainees.
- Contribute to governance, service development, and continuous improvement.
- Exhibit flexibility to support service evolution and development of clinical, operational, and leadership interests.
- Medical degree and completed General Professional Training, or equivalent.
- Higher academic degree (MD or PhD) or equivalent level of research attainment.
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (or equivalent).
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within 12 months of obtaining a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in an appropriate specialty at interview.
- Non-UK trained doctors must provide evidence of eligibility for full GMC registration and entry on the Specialist Register in Medical Oncology.
- Experience and commitment to multidisciplinary working.
- Broad experience in managing treatment and follow-up of patients with cancer.
- Experience teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Ability to carry out original research, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Clinical research experience.
- Teaching ability in a clinical setting.
- Organise and prioritise workload, delegate responsibilities, and supervise staff.
- Work effectively within a team and on own initiative.
- Promote teamwork and motivate colleagues.
- Leadership skills and drive service development.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); good command of written and spoken English.
- GCP certification for clinical trial work.
- Ability to attract grant funding to support research.
- Translate research activities into a clinical and organisational context.
- Clinical Governance framework of the NHS, including Research Governance, and awareness of current changes in NHS organisation and management structures.
- Principles of resource and budgetary management.
- Highest ethical and professional standards in research, education and clinical practice.
- Member of Medical Defence Organisation.

Salary£113,565 to £150,569 a year + London Weighting (on-call Cat B 1 %) pro-rate.
