Introduction

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical roles. Position Details

Start date: 1st August 2025 for one year.

Applications are invited for a full-time locum Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia at the Royal Hospital for Children.

Contract and Responsibilities

The post is a 10PA contract, involving responsibilities in general and emergency theatres. The 'on call' commitment is 1 in 20, providing out-of-hours emergency cover on the RHC site.

Team and Department

The successful candidate will join 26 Anaesthetic consultants providing on-call coverage for the general rota. The department also includes a cardiac anaesthetic rota with 5 paediatric cardiac anaesthetists, alongside advanced paediatric anaesthesia trainees, post-CCT Fellows, and specialty trainees from the West of Scotland Training Scheme.

Eligibility and Experience

Applicants must be eligible for full GMC registration, either already on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of receiving their CCT at interview. Significant previous paediatric anaesthetic experience is required.
