Job overview Main duties of the jobThis is an exciting time for the Department of Medicine for the Elderly. We are in the process of expanding our department, and are particularly interested in developing innovative processes of care for our patient population. We currently provide specialist care on a Frailty and Acute Medicine for the Elderly unit and four 'Core' Medicine for the Elderly wards. We have an established rapid access service for GPs (RADAR), SDEC clinic and trust-wide specialist geriatric liaison teams. We have also extended into the interface between hospital and community, with successful pilots in care home outreach and rehabilitation units that are in the process of expansion.
The post will offer opportunities for working across a range of clinical settings including core Medicine for the Elderly wards and the Frailty and Acute Medicine for the Elderly unit (AFU).
The post is open to applicants with geriatric medicine speciality training. Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
Working for our organisationThe applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
