Job Description
Job Overview

Consultant Haematologist posts in the Clinical Haematology Department at Manchester Royal Infirmary. 9 month fixed term, 10 sessions per week, full time, hourly rate results in a pro rated annual salary of £113,565-£150,569. Post includes on call provision for haemato oncology (1:8).

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work within the haemato oncology, stem cell transplant, CAR T and gene therapy service.
  • Participate in the haemato oncology on call rota.
  • Undertake laboratory duties aligned with clinical interests.
  • Provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching inside and outside the Trust.
  • Actively engage in clinical trials programmes in transplantation, cellular and gene therapies.
  • Cover for colleagues during annual/study leave and short term sickness on a rotational basis.
Qualifications & Training
  • MB.ChB or equivalent.
  • Higher qualification (FRCPath or equivalent).
  • Completion of core medical training (MRCP(UK) or equivalent).
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • UK trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award.
  • Non UK trained applicants must provide evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent (e.g. MD or PhD).
Management & Administration
  • Ability to organise and manage a busy clinical practice.
  • Ability to manage and lead a medical firm.
  • Management training.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Organisational skills.
Academic Achievements / Research
  • Specialist interest in haemato oncology.
  • Publications in recognised medical and haematology journals.
  • Research projects related to the specialist area.
Teaching and Audit
  • Teaching of medical students.
  • Experience of audit.
  • Teaching of junior medical staff.
  • Ability and experience to teach clinical skills.
  • Experience supervising specialist trainees.
Other Requirements
  • Specialist registration with the General Medical Council and licence to practise.
