Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology - Scotland - FTC

Triple West Medical has been appointed by an NHS organization in SW Scotland to assist in recruiting a Consultant in Gastroenterology for a substantive post. They are also considering a Locum Fixed Term Contract for a minimum of 12 months.

The NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community health services to approximately 350,000 people across multiple sites, employing over 8,000 staff. Located in Scotland's southwest region, the area features scenic coastlines and is close to Glasgow. The region hosts an active postgraduate program within the local Deanery, with consultants encouraged to participate in teaching activities for specialty trainees.

The current team offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services supported by Gastroenterology Specialist Nurses, Endoscopy Nurses, and Specialty Doctors. They collaborate closely with surgical colleagues across hospitals and maintain established teaching and research links with the local university. The duties focus on providing specialist Gastroenterology services.

The purpose-built endoscopy units on both sites are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The endoscopy service includes Consultant Upper GI Surgeons, Consultant Colorectal Surgeons, Gastroenterology Specialist Doctors and Nurses, and Endoscopy Specialist Nurses. Services offered include both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as laser therapy, argon plasma coagulation, and other modalities for acute gastrointestinal bleeding.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Deliver high-quality, efficient, and responsive clinical care to patients.
  2. Participate in teaching, accreditation, and examination duties; contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
  3. Comply with College recommendations on Continuing Medical Education.
  4. Adhere to NHS Policies on Clinical Governance.
  5. Engage in research and develop subspecialty interests, subject to resources and priorities.
  6. Participate in medical audit and continuing medical education.
  7. Manage budgetary and other managerial responsibilities, where appropriate.

Our client is willing to issue Certificates of Sponsorship to suitably qualified overseas doctors. GMC registration and relevant experience are essential.
