Gastroenterology Locum Consultant - Fixed Term 12 Months (Maternity Leave Cover) - Grade NHS Medical & Dental

Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum

Job OverviewDemand for gastroenterology outpatient and endoscopy services is consistently high at the Trust. This role offers the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with the existing gastroenterology and hepatology teams to provide a high standard of care across the Trust.
The post is a 12 month fixed term contract starting 2 March 2026 and comprises ten programmed activities (PAs) including an on call commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota. The post does not include a commitment to the general medical on call rota.
Main Duties- Maintain high quality, patient centred care.
- Exercise shared responsibility for day to day management of the service and participate in strategic planning.
- Provide teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service.
- Actively involve in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity.
- Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council.
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- Broad experience in gastroenterology, including diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
- Experience supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues.
- Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion.
- Evidence of leading on patient safety issues and achieving change in practice.
- Demonstrable experience in a locum consultant role.
- Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and identification of errors and learning from errors.
- Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
- Demonstrates an interest and commitment to the specialty.
- Experience and evidence of engagement around the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda; actively supports the development of a culture that recognises and promotes equality.
