Job Description
Locum Consultant - Intrapartum and High Risk Obstetrics

Locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (with an interest in Intrapartum and High-Risk Obstetrics), based at Frimley Park Hospital (FPH).

Main duties of the job

The allocation of programmed activities will be based on 8.5 for direct clinical care and up to 1.5 for supporting professional activities. The proposed timetable, each week, which has some degree of flexibility may include:

  • Labour Ward Consultant day once/week
  • Elective LSCS list
  • Antenatal clinic weekly
  • Patient Safety/Quality review meetings / PMRT Gynae Outpatient
  • Theatre list
  • EPU / Emergency Gynae Twilight
  • Out of hours (including resident Consultant night) SPA

Qualifications
  • Entry on Specialist Register (CCT or entry expected within 6 months of interview date) or, for Mediated Entrants, entry on Specialist Registrar prior to application
  • ATSM or SITM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice
  • ATSM or SITM in Labour Ward Lead and/or High-Risk Pregnancy
  • MRCOG in advanced labour ward practice
  • Clinical research in the fields of special interest
  • Evidence of participation in QIPs
  • Experience of Obstetric governance and work on guidelines
  • Publications relevant to the fields of Obstetrics
Skills & Knowledge
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that for gaining UK CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Participation in multidisciplinary team activities
