Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer Opportunities

Rate: Highly competitive hourly rates

Locations: Remote, Hybrid and On-Site Options Across the UK

Contract: Locum / Interim (short to long term)

I'm working with multiple Local Authorities across the UK who are seeking experienced Adult Social Care Lawyers to support high-performing legal teams during periods of increased demand. These roles offer flexibility, varied caseloads, and an opportunity to make a real impact within adult safeguarding and community care services.

About the Role

You will manage a varied and busy caseload of adult social care matters, providing specialist legal advice to internal clients and representing the authority where required.

While many assignments offer remote or hybrid working, the role will require attendance at the office for:

  • Induction
  • Service or team meetings
  • Hearings or court attendances
  • Occasional case conferences

Key Responsibilities

You will typically be expected to:

  • Hold and manage a mixed caseload including:
  • Care Act 2014 matters
  • Ordinary residence disputes
  • Continuing health care
  • Deprivation of liberty (DoLS/LPS)
  • Age assessment challenges
  • Judicial review matters
  • Inquests
  • Provide clear, accurate and timely legal advice to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Work effectively as part of a team within the Adult Social Care legal department
  • Meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Conduct your own advocacy where appropriate, or be willing to develop advocacy skills
  • Support or supervise junior staff where required

Requirements

To be eligible, candidates should:

  • Hold a valid practising certificate and be authorised to practice in England as a Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives
  • Have strong practical experience in adult social care law
  • Be capable of managing a demanding and varied caseload independently
  • Be able to provide sound advice to internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Ideally have previous experience supervising junior team members
