Job Description
Local Authority Housing, Head of Asset Management, Manchester Pay rate to £450-500 per day Contract role, Local Government Housing We are recruiting for an experienced Local Authority Head of Asset Management in Manchester This is a contract role, and you will need to have experience in a similar role in a Local Authority setting Head of Assets & Investment, Grade SS1 
- This role is a senior post within Manchester City Council and will provide strategic leadership for the authority's housing service
- Reports to: Strategic Lead Repairs & Asset
- The role holder will provide strategic leadership and lead the asset management strategy and commissioned works for the Manchester City Council managed, £1bn council housing portfolio.
- The role holder will lead and facilitate the development of the council's asset and investment strategy working with elected members, senior stakeholders, residents and partners across the City.
- Experienced Head of Asset Management required to lead the strategic management of a large social housing portfolio. The successful candidate will have a proven background in social housing asset management, ideally gained within a Local Authority or Housing Association environment.
- Key responsibilities will include oversight of stock condition data, long-term investment planning (5-30 years), compliance with emerging housing legislation, and driving improvements in energy efficiency and asset performance. The role will also support the management of an additional 2,500 properties operating under a unique PFI arrangement.
- Candidates must demonstrate strong technical asset management expertise, a thorough understanding of current and forthcoming housing regulations, and the ability to operate strategically within a complex housing environment. Alongside technical capability, cultural fit, stakeholder engagement, and leadership qualities will be important considerations.
- The position offers hybrid working (2-3 days per week on-site in Greater Manchester) and is initially expected to run up to six months
