Job Description

Linux Specialist - Migration & Configuration

Location: Remote with potential onsite support (Azure DC)

Duration: Initial engagement (TBD)

Start: ASAP

We are seeking an experienced Linux engineer with strong skills in data migration, clustering, and service configuration to support a migration project. The source environment is a CentOS7 cluster, and the target environment is an Azure-hosted Ubuntu cluster.

Responsibilities

  • Data Migration
    • Securely migrate MariaDB MySQL databases.
    • Migrate Redis data and FTP content (rsync, scp, mysqldump, backup/restore).
    • Rebuild and configure NGINX vHosts in the new environment.
  • Cluster & Replication Configuration
    • Configure PCS & Corosync for cluster logic, resources, constraints, and fencing.
    • Setup and validate DRBD block-level replication between Azure VMs.
    • Handle DRBD initialization, sync, and split-brain scenarios.
  • Service Installation & Configuration
    • Install and configure Redis, NGINX, and ProFTP on Ubuntu-based Azure VMs.
    • Integrate with Azure services (Availability Sets/Zones, Load Balancer, Backup, Monitor, Defender).
  • Testing & Validation
    • Ensure services are fully operational post-migration.
    • Test HA clustering, replication failover, and service recovery.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience with Linux administration (Ubuntu, CentOS7).
  • Strong knowledge of MariaDB/MySQL, Redis, NGINX, ProFTP.
  • Hands-on experience with PCS/Corosync cluster configuration.
  • Deep understanding of DRBD setup and replication management.
  • Familiarity with Azure IaaS environments (VMs, Load Balancer, Availability Zones).
  • Experience in data migration planning and execution with minimal downtime.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in HA and replication environments.
  • Experience integrating open-source services with Azure-native monitoring and backup tools.
  • Previous work on cloud migration projects with high availability requirements.
  • Exposure to containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) for future-proofing.
