Linux Engineer - 10+ Months- Freelance - Mostly Remote

We're looking for a Linux Engineer with strong experience across automation, hybrid infrastructure, and enterprise Linux environments. You'll work across Azure, virtual Servers, and on-prem systems, ensuring our Linux platforms are reliable, automated, and easy for application teams to use.

This role blends elements of traditional Linux engineering with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. You will focus on automation, reliability, configuration management, and smooth integration for application teams-whether applications run on Servers or containerized environments.

What You'll Do

• Manage and operate Linux systems (standalone + enterprise environments).
• Handle provisioning, upgrades, configuration management, and migrations.
• Build and maintain CI/CD automation for Linux deployments.
• Use Ansible for configuration management and environment standardization.
• Support application testing and integration within Linux environments.
• Apply SRE principles to ensure reliability and smooth operations.
• Work in a hybrid setup-public cloud + on-prem virtual Servers-not only cloud-native tools.

What You Bring

• Strong Linux engineering background (RedHat, Oracle Linux, similar).
• Experience with automation, Scripting, and large-scale environments.
• Hands-on expertise with CI/CD pipelines and Linux app testing.
• Ability to automate provisioning through to configuration management.
• Experience with containers and enterprise infrastructure.

Contract Details:

• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: 10months + with extensions
• Location: Mostly remote with occasional onsite travel to Hungary
• Contract Type: 40 hours per week, freelance
