Role Overview

Life Cycle Engineers provide in-service technical support for Defence products, ensuring their safe, reliable, and disruption-free operation. In the Bristol (GCAP) future programmes team, they focus on customer and engineering needs to influence design and improve product maturity throughout its lifecycle to meet customer and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Operators, Partners, Airframers, Regulatory Authorities, and Subject Matter Experts to develop support solutions across the product lifecycle.
  • Influence product design based on in-service experience and support strategies.
  • Manage issues related to system maturity, supportability, lifecycle cost, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Lead health monitoring system requirements and identify new capabilities.
  • Model performance, deterioration, and service attributes to optimize operations and support validation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with technical and business requirements of stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver technical communications to various stakeholders.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities and maintain lifecycle engineering policies.
  • Set and monitor reliability targets, using statistical techniques to predict future performance.
Candidate Profile

We seek individuals who:

  • Hold a degree in a STEM subject and have relevant engineering experience (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, or Controls).
  • Possess a broad understanding of Gas Turbine characteristics and in-service operation environment, including regulatory requirements.
  • Have knowledge of component/system functionality and numerical methods.
  • Have experience managing complex, novel, and ambiguous tasks.
  • Can lead project requirements and support cross-functional teams.
