Probate & Wills Legal Secretary / Assistant
Location: Malton, North Yorkshire
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Working Pattern: Office Based

We are recruiting for a Probate & Wills Legal Secretary / Assistant to join the Private Client team of a well-established law firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous legal administration experience who is organised, professional and confident providing high-quality support within a busy legal environment.

Previous experience within Wills, Probate or Private Client law would be highly desirable, but it is not essential. Candidates with strong legal administrative or secretarial experience from another area of law are encouraged to apply.

The Role

Working closely with solicitors and fee earners, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support across a varied caseload of Wills, Probate and related Private Client matters.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, formatting and amending legal correspondence and documents
  • Supporting fee earners with Wills and Probate matters
  • Opening, maintaining and closing client files
  • Liaising professionally with clients and third parties by telephone and email
  • Managing diaries, appointments and meetings
  • Handling incoming correspondence and ensuring matters are dealt with efficiently
  • Updating the firm's case management system and maintaining accurate client records
  • Preparing documentation and assisting with general file administration
  • Providing wider administrative support to the Private Client team
  • Ensuring confidentiality and compliance with internal procedures at all times

About You

To be considered, you will need previous legal administration, legal secretarial or legal assistant experience within a law firm or legal environment.

You will ideally have experience within Probate, Wills, Estate Administration or Private Client law, although this is desirable rather than essential.

You should also be:

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload and competing priorities
  • Professional and approachable when dealing with clients
  • A strong written and verbal communicator
  • Able to work effectively as part of a busy and supportive legal team

This could be particularly well suited to an experienced Legal Administrator, Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant looking to develop their career within Wills, Probate and Private Client law.
