Location: Portugal (Fully Remote)

Salary: €55,000 - €60,000 + benefits

Reports to: Head of Legal

Overview

We are seeking a commercially focused Legal Counsel to join a growing international technology organisation. This is a fully remote role based in Portugal, offering the opportunity to work closely with an international legal team and business stakeholders.

You will provide legal support across commercial operations, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance and risk management. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with experience in technology or telecommunications to work in a fast-paced international environment.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Legal Support

• Provide practical legal advice to commercial and operational teams across the business.

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with customers, suppliers and strategic partners.

• Support commercial teams on contractual matters relating to new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.

• Identify and manage legal and regulatory risks associated with commercial activities.

Contract Management

• Manage the full contract lifecycle including drafting, negotiation, approvals and documentation.

• Ensure contracts comply with internal governance processes and company policies.

• Support contract management processes and maintain accurate legal documentation.

Compliance & Regulatory

• Ensure compliance with relevant Portuguese, EU and international legal and regulatory frameworks.

• Support the development and implementation of internal legal policies and governance procedures.

• Work with external legal advisors where required.

Disputes & Litigation

• Assist in the management of commercial disputes and litigation matters.

• Coordinate with external counsel where appropriate.

• Support the handling of legal claims and dispute resolution processes.

Legal Operations & Governance

• Support the legal team in maintaining strong governance and risk management frameworks.

• Contribute to internal legal training and knowledge sharing across the organisation.

• Monitor regulatory developments and advise the business on potential legal impacts.

Skills & Experience

• Qualified lawyer in Portugal or another EU jurisdiction.

• Experience negotiating and drafting software licence agreements within a software, SaaS, telecommunications or technology company is essential.

• Strong background in commercial technology contracts, including SaaS agreements, licensing arrangements, service agreements and commercial partnerships.

• Ability to provide pragmatic legal advice to commercial teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple legal matters and prioritise effectively.

• Strong commercial awareness and sound judgement.

• Fluent English required; additional European languages would be advantageous.
