The Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering at Loughborough University is one of the largest and most successful engineering schools in the UK, consistently ranked among the top ten for our disciplines. The School wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Embedded Systems and Intelligent Computing to strengthen its research and teaching in future technologies. Our focus is on Embedded Systems, Digital Electronics, Computer Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Edge Artificial Intelligence rather than device fabrication: We welcome applications from candidates working across Embedded Systems and Intelligent Computing, and the translation and industrial adoption of quantum technologies.

The successful candidate will build on the School's capability in digital electronics, RF engineering, computer architecture, and cybersecurity, with significant scope for interdisciplinary collaboration across the University. The appointee will contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and will develop specialist teaching in emerging engineering technologies available as options to students across other disciplines. This post forms part of the School's long-term strategic investment in future and emerging engineering technologies.

About You

  • You will have a PhD or equivalent research experience in Embedded Systems, Digital Electronics, Cybersecurity, Edge Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field. Expertise in the design, implementation, and security of embedded systems is essential.
  • You will have a track record of research excellence, with publications in leading journals and a trajectory towards international recognition. Experience in translating research into real-world applications or collaboration with industry partners is particularly welcomed.
