Lecturer in Cybersecurity

Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Cybersecurity on a permanent, full-time contract to join the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences within Birkbeck's Faculty of Science, located in the heart of London's historic Bloomsbury area.
Our School offers a strong portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Computer Science, Data Science and Mathematics, and our internationally leading research is currently organised into three themes: Discrete Mathematics and Algorithms, Data Science and AI, and Logical Methods.
Following the introduction of a new undergraduate programme in Cybersecurity, and in preparation for expanding provision to the postgraduate level, we are now broadening our academic expertise in this area. As the post holder, you will work alongside existing colleagues and a newly appointed Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity.
You will pursue an internationally excellent research agenda in Cybersecurity and play an active role in designing and delivering our related course portfolio. In doing so, you will help foster our vibrant research culture and environment, advance knowledge in your field, and make a significant contribution to the intellectual development of our diverse student cohort.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, a strong research track record in Cybersecurity, the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the School, and teaching experience in Cybersecurity and other areas of Computer Science.
Main responsibilities will be to:
- Teach and inspire students across various settings, from small tutorials to large lectures
- Develop and deliver engaging teaching materials and methods, and convene modules
- Supervise student projects and provide academic guidance
- Engage in research activities and contribute to the school's research objectives
- Participate in outreach and engagement activities to enhance public understanding of your discipline and/or contribute to School administration and management.
As Lecturer you will:
- Be an experienced researcher and hold a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related discipline
- Have experience in teaching and leading modules at the undergraduate and postgraduate level
- Have thorough knowledge of different types of teaching methods and strategies appropriate to Computer Science
- Have effective communication and presentation skills
- Show a commitment to diversity and the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.

Remuneration£44,247 rising to £60,858 per annum. The salary is Grade LLEC on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
