Job descriptionFollowing the successful launch and validation of our Foundation Degree in Applied Computing and BSc (Hons) Applied Computing Top Up, we are seeking a motivated, knowledgeable and industry informed Applied Computing specialist to act as module leader and support delivery across Levels 4, 5 and 6.
The successful candidate will primarily teach across the core applied computing curriculum, supporting learners as they progress from foundation level study into degree level independence. Delivery will span a range of applied disciplines including software development, systems, data, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence and professional practice.
While this role does not replace specialist cyber security, data or AI posts, it plays a key role in embedding security aware, data informed and ethically responsible practice across applied computing modules, ensuring learners develop a coherent and industry relevant skill set.
Qualifications and Skills- Applied Software Development: experience with Python and familiarity with JavaScript, C#, SQL
- Cloud Systems and Platforms: knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, virtualisation, containers, identity concepts and experience with Azure or AWS
- Data, Analytics and Visualisation: data preparation, validation, analysis and visual communication using common industry tools
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: foundational AI concepts, model usage, data driven decision making and ethical considerations (desirable)
- Computing Systems and Architecture: operating systems, APIs, networking fundamentals and systems integration
- Cyber Security Concepts: secure by design principles, threat/vulnerability awareness, data protection and regulatory considerations (desirable)
- Professional and Collaborative Computing Practice: project based delivery, documentation, version control, teamwork and applied problem solving
