Elm Grove Primary School is a popular primary school set in Worthing, West Sussex. We are an ambitious and inclusive primary school with a highly dedicated and motivated staff.
We are seeking to appoint an additional Learning Support Assistant to join our team. Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) are appointed to work within the school as part of a team under the general direction of the Head Teacher. Their deployment will depend on pupil need, pupil numbers, staffing organisation and additional responsibilities as designated by the Senior Leadership Team.
This may entail:- Working with groups of children;
- Supporting play-based learning;
- Providing 1:1 support in class;
- Supporting emotional regulation, engagement and access to learning.

Experience of working with children with SEND, including supporting emotional regulation, is desirable.

What You Need to Succeed Main PurposeTo work with teachers to support teaching and learning for individuals or small groups of pupils with specific learning needs and/or other barriers to learning, such as motor skills, social communication, speech and language, emotional well-being, challenging behaviour.
Duties and Responsibilities- Support and drive learning both in class and across the school, as directed by the Class Teacher, Phase Leader and Headteacher;
- Implement planned learning activities/teaching programs as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils' responses as appropriate whilst promoting independent learning;
- Supervise and provide particular support for pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities;
- Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour;
- Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress/activities and keep records of the children's development, as required by the school;
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher and in line with school policy;
- Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher;
- Support pupils in their social and emotional well-being, reporting any problems to the teacher, as appropriate;
- Assist the teaching staff with pastoral support and ensure the welfare of children;
- Under the guidance of a teacher, and in line with school policies, share information about pupils with other staff, parents/carers, internal and external agencies, as appropriate;
