Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Primary

We're currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming Primary School in Derby on a long-term basis starting in September.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to meet their individual learning needs

  • Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons

  • Delivering targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum areas

  • Encouraging pupil participation, confidence and independence

  • Supporting children with SEND, where required

  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping to create a safe, inclusive classroom environment

  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents to support positive outcomes

Requirements or Skills:
  • Recent experience working with children or young people in a school or education setting

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare or equivalent is desirable

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous

  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
