Role Summary

Please note this role is on a 12 month fixed term contract initially.

As the Lead Workplace Technology Engineer at PEXA UK, you will be responsible for evolving and supporting our modern digital workplace environment. You will work with a small team of engineers managing predominantly Microsoft end-user services.

This is very much a hands-on technical role in a Lead capacity for a seasoned engineer who can make an impact from day one, combining your technical know-how and strategic thinking to deliver the ongoing workplace technology strategy. You will engage with key stakeholders both in the UK and Australia, so communication skills and gravitas a crucial to be successful.

Equally as important are a broader set of skills and experience in being able to self-manage, plan projects, delegate tasks and work in a team player.

With a strong user-centric mindset, you will ensure secure, reliable, and streamlined access to tools and services that empower productivity, collaboration, and compliance across our UK business.

This role will work closely with existing IT support functions and may evolve to take ownership of aspects of the IT support service, depending on how the organisation grows.

The successful candidate will bring a collaborative approach, helping to align support and workplace technologies for a seamless user experience.

While predominantly based from home team members meet up for in-office collaboration days 20-25 days per year

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Design

• Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap for workplace technologies in the UK, aligned with PEXA Group's global standards and goals.
• Take primary responsibility for execution and delivery of the strategy, balancing the everyday needs of the business with delivery of projects and initiatives.
• Design and maintain secure, scalable solutions using Microsoft AD, Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft 365, Intune, MAM, Windows Autopilot, Windows 11, AVD.
• Ensure seamless integration between Microsoft stack and third-party services (Okta, Zoom, Miro, Clearskye, Jira).
• Work with our IT Support Provider to define the lifecycle of corporate devices, from procurement to provisioning, management, support, and secure disposal.
• Recommend appropriate hardware, software, and licenses for purchase, ensuring alignment with security, compliance, and business needs.
• Undertake technical due diligence and supplier onboarding for new requests.
• Manage Entra ID and legacy AD policies, structures, and access controls.

Operations & Support

• Collaborate with the owner of IT support services to ensure alignment of incident resolution, device lifecycle management, and service experience.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance on workplace-related support issues, with potential to assume line management or service ownership as the organisation grows.
• Act as the senior escalation point for complex end-user, endpoint, and collaboration platform issues.
• Collaborate closely with the Security, Platform, and Service Delivery teams to ensure compliance with cyber, legal, and operational standards.
• Continuously monitor and optimise performance, security posture, and cost 1 efficiency across the workplace ecosystem.
• Maintain excellent relationships with suppliers and vendors, driving business value and cost optimisation.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of corporate virtual desktops, including AVD environments.
• Ensure compliance with device patching, security updates, and Cyber Essentials Plus certification and audits.
• Support all collaboration and M365 tools including Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and emerging services like Copilot.

Collaboration & Governance

• Work with international peers to align technology patterns, contribute to global standards, and adopt shared services where appropriate.
• Develop documentation, SOPs, and runbooks for UK workplace systems.
• Ensure appropriate governance, including conditional access policies, identity lifecycle management, MFA, and device compliance. Innovation & Improvement
• Drive adoption of modern management techniques and self-service IT models.
• Evaluate and trial emerging technologies and features within M365, AVD, and unified communications to improve user experience and automation.
• Lead workplace improvement projects including onboarding automation, collaboration tooling integration, and hybrid meeting experience optimisation.

• Endpoint Security & Compliance: Palo Alto Global Protect VPN, Cortex XDR, Airlock, Bitlocker, Conditional Access, PIM,
• Office Tech: Door access control systems, CCTV, AV meeting room equipment, printers, desk tech
• Remote Working Equipment: Screens, docks, headsets, ergonomic chairs/desk

Skills & Experience Required Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience designing, deploying, and supporting Microsoft 365 and Intune-managed environments at scale.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Autopilot, Entra ID, Conditional Access, and AVD.
• Experience managing hybrid environments with legacy Active Directory and Entra ID integration.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across end-user devices, collaboration platforms, and identity services.
• Experience integrating or managing 3rd party workplace tech platforms (e.g., Okta, Zoom, Jira).
• Strong documentation skills and ability to translate technical complexity into operational standards.

Desirable

• Exposure to automation (e.g., PowerShell, Logic Apps, or Graph API).
• Experience with identity governance (e.g., Clearskye, OKTA, Entra).
• Prior involvement in workplace transformation or device modernisation projects.

£60,000 - £70,000 a year
