Job Description

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Lead Storage Architect to define and drive the architecture of storage services within a cloud-native, service-oriented internal platform aimed at accelerating software development and delivery across hybrid environments (private and select public clouds).

The architect will be responsible for designing and evolving secure, scalable, and maintainable storage components such as object storage, file and block storage, and a custom-built Container Storage Interface (CSI) driver. Integration with platform-wide services like IAM and a future transition from NetApp to Ceph are key aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the architecture for file, block, and object storage products, including NetApp-based and Ceph-based solutions.

  • Design and oversee the implementation of a Kubernetes CSI driver for file/block storage.

  • Drive the mid-term transition from NetApp to CEPH across all storage types.

  • Ensure integration of storage services with core platform capabilities, particularly IAM.

  • Provide architectural guidance throughout the product life cycle: concept, design, development, and delivery.

  • Conduct architecture validations and ensure alignment with governance, observability, and security standards.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for all storage architecture decisions across teams.

  • Stay up to date on trends in storage infrastructure and guide long-term strategy accordingly.

Must-Have Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, platform engineering, or storage architecture.

  • Deep expertise in file, block, and object storage technologies (ideally with NetApp and Ceph).

  • Strong understanding of Linux-based storage mechanisms and Kubernetes CSI frameworks.

  • Experience with distributed systems design (HA, replication, synchronization).

  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and data modelling (relational, document, graph).

  • Solid understanding of authentication & authorization: IAM, RBAC, OAuth, OIDC.

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts: namespaces, deployments, services, ingress, and service mesh.

  • Experience with observability tools and principles (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).

  • Programming experience in Python, especially using FastAPI and Pydantic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in cloud infrastructure, architecture, or security (eg, TOGAF, AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Understanding of enterprise networking concepts (VLAN, VRF, BGP) and their relation to storage.

  • Experience in architectural transitions or platform migrations in large-scale environments.
