Lead Software Engineer - GenAI/Forward Deployed - Remote (UK or Ireland)

Work directly with enterprise clients and senior stakeholders to design and build cutting-edge B2B Generative AI solutions.

This is a highly senior, hands-on software engineering role sitting just below Principal Engineer level. It would suit a Technical Lead, Staff Engineer, or very Senior Software Engineer who wants to stay close to the technology while also working directly with external clients on complex, real-world GenAI projects.

Important: Aside from being an excellent Lead Software Engineer. To be considered, you must have experience working directly with external enterprise clients on software delivery projects and be comfortable engaging with senior client stakeholders, including leadership-level contacts.

We are partnering with a fast-growing technology company building enterprise-grade Generative AI solutions for major organisations. You will work on greenfield and high-impact projects, helping shape technical direction, architecture, and delivery from early discovery through to production.

The Role

• Work closely with enterprise clients to understand business challenges and design high-impact GenAI solutions
• Lead discovery sessions, workshops, and technical discussions with client stakeholders
• Translate business needs into practical technical direction and delivery plans
• Build and prototype Generative AI solutions, then help scale them into production
• Make key architectural and design decisions across the full solution life cycle
• Provide technical leadership and mentor other engineers where needed
• Collaborate with product, data, and ML teams to deliver integrated solutions that solve real business problems

What You Bring

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience at Lead, Staff, or very Senior level
• Solid full stack engineering background and experience building and scaling complex software systems
• Proven experience working directly with external enterprise clients on software delivery engagements
• Confidence engaging with senior client stakeholders, including leadership-level contacts, and helping lead technical conversations
• Strong architectural judgement and the ability to balance speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading smaller technical teams
• A strong interest in Generative AI, ideally with commercial experience, or otherwise through serious hands-on personal projects and practical experimentation

Non-Negotiable Experience

1. Deep software engineering expertise
You are a highly experienced software engineer with strong full stack capability and a track record of building complex production systems.

2. External client-facing enterprise experience
You have worked directly with external enterprise clients on software projects and have dealt with senior client stakeholders, including leadership-level contacts. This is essential for the role.

3. Genuine GenAI interest or experience
You have either worked with Generative AI commercially, or you can clearly demonstrate serious practical interest through projects, prototyping, or staying very close to developments in the space.

• Excellent salary of €130,000 - €160,000/£115,000 - £140,000

Additional Information

This role is remote, but you must be based in the UK or Ireland and legally eligible to work there without sponsorship.
