About the Role

Due to a new contract win we are hiring a Lead Scaffolder to join our local scaffolding team. The position involves high standard repairs and refurbishment activities on housing properties, delivering best in class customer service while meeting safety, quality and cost control standards. You will work across the Milton Keynes area, supporting the social housing contract, providing excellent service and support through our local teams, and contributing to the local community.

Main Duties
  • Erecting and striking scaffolding
  • Creating various platforms, from simple scaffolding to complex structures such as suspended scaffolding, chimney stacks, scaffold access towers and independent scaffolds
  • Supporting the scaffold labourer and part two scaffolders
  • Working on site in all weather conditions
  • Unloading scaffolding equipment on site
  • Ensuring a stable base for scaffolding and fixing it to buildings or structures
  • Laying planks for workers to walk on, fixing guard rails and safety netting
  • Dismantling scaffolding once a project is complete
  • Taking ownership of construction, fault finding and maintenance repairs, aiming for first time completion within budget and time parameters
  • Ensuring that the customer experience is central to all activities, including professional communication, appearance, company ID, vehicle condition and a high standard of health and safety
  • Obtaining customer feedback upon completion of works where requested
  • Processing all activities electronically using a handheld device (PDA), including worksheets, timesheets, photographic evidence, van stock replenishment, annual leave booking, vehicle inspections, safeguarding issues, risk assessments and method statements
Role Criteria
  • GOLD Card in scaffolding
  • Previous experience as a charge hand scaffolder
  • UK full driving licence
  • Ability to drive a 7.5 ton lorry
  • Manual handling skills
  • Customer service skills

Uniform & Working Conditions

All roles require entitlement to work within the UK. Mears does not offer visa sponsorship. To drive a Mears vehicle you must be aged over 21, hold your licence for at least three months and have fewer than nine points. Candidates must also pass relevant background, identity and security checks before commencement of employment.
