About the role: As a Lead Product Designer, your role is to meet the diverse needs of our users by making sure that they have the best experience across our products. You will work closely with engineers, product experts and the wider multidisciplinary team to craft end-to-end journeys that help customers achieve their goals - from acquiring fast and easy driveaway cover, to insuring their impounded vehicle. You will work through design problems from start to finish, translating research, analytics and business insights into ideas that become new products and features, as well as designing detailed user journeys and the interactions needed to make them viable.

What you'll be doing:
- Driving design from concept to execution - leading ideation, prototyping, and high-fidelity design across our web and app, ensuring solutions are user-centred, elegant, and effective.
- Setting design direction and strategy - partnering with product and business leaders to shape the vision and roadmap across Tempcover, aligning teams around clear priorities and ensuring design plays a central role in where we're headed.
- Owning the end-to-end user experience - mapping journeys, identifying opportunities for improvement, and shaping holistic solutions that balance user needs with business goals.
- Championing customer insight - defining how and when we learn from users, leading research initiatives, and embedding evidence-led design thinking across teams.
- Using data to uncover opportunities - proactively working with analysts and product managers to identify user pain points, spot trends, and shape opportunities into impactful, insight-led design solutions.
- Collaborating across disciplines - working closely with engineers, analysts and stakeholders e.g. underwriting to shape product strategy and ensure design is considered at every stage.
- Facilitating alignment and clarity - running effective workshops and reviews, translating insights and ideas into actionable plans, and building shared understanding through strong communication and storytelling.
- Ensuring scalable design - evolving our design systems, patterns, and principles to ensure we maintain a cohesive, scalable, and modern design language.
- Reimagining the customer experience from the ground up - rebuilding Tempcover's app and website to be faster, more intuitive, and ready for the future.
- Designing new journeys and UX foundations to better support our growing customer base across web and app.
- Making considered updates to the look, feel, and experience of our platforms to stay aligned with our vision and values.
- Exploring the future of insurance - through research, testing, and early prototyping, we're shaping new flexible, usage-based insurance models that challenge the annual status quo.
- Deepening our understanding of why customers choose Tempcover - by uncovering use cases, behaviours, and motivations, we're building clearer segmentation and sharper product strategies.
- Tightening the feedback loop with new tools and methods to bring us closer to our customers, making sure we're solving real problems that matter.
What we're looking for
- Leadership & Influence: Experience leading complex initiatives and cross-functional projects - shaping not just the what, but the why and how.
- Strategic product thinker: Shapes direction alongside PMs and engineers, tying design decisions to business outcomes
- Strong end-to-end craft - Skilled across the full design process, from user insight to polished UI, with deep experience in Figma, prototyping, and working with design systems for web and app
- Insight-led problem solver: Uses research and data to focus on the right problems, understand our customers and prioritise for impact
- Mentor and quality driver: Raises the bar through feedback, coaching, and leading by example
- Collaborative and proactive: Works closely with engineers and analysts, and takes initiative beyond the brief
- Impact-focused prioritisation: Uses data and insight to focus on what matters most, make smart trade-offs, and drive meaningful outcomes for users and the business
- Clear and confident communicator: Articulates design decisions with clarity, engages stakeholders at all levels, and runs effective workshops to align, extract insight, and drive collaboration
- Champions user-centered, inclusive design; ensures alignment with user needs; mentors others in inclusive practices.
