Overview
The Lead Engineer - Hull Construction plays a pivotal role in the execution of hull construction activities within our explorer yacht projects. This position ensures the hull is engineered and built in compliance with project requirements, quality benchmarks, budget constraints, and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities
As Lead Engineer - Hull Construction, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing and coordinating all hull construction activities for explorer yacht projects.
- Ensuring construction aligns with technical specifications, budgets, and timelines.
- Leading the creation of hull-related engineering packages.
- Managing and maintaining technical documentation for hull design and construction.
- Conducting feasibility analyses and developing technical procurement specifications.
- Coordinating with contractors to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
- Monitoring project schedules to ensure milestones are met.
- Supporting cost control through hours reporting and variance management.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and classification requirements.
- Contributing to training and knowledge development in hull engineering.
- Collaborating with the Project Lead Engineer, Head of Projects, and Project Managers to address technical and operational challenges.
Requirements
- Relevant technical education at HBO level; a Bachelor's or Master's in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in senior engineering roles focused on hull construction and outfitting for large vessels or explorer yachts.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Extensive knowledge of hull construction methodologies, materials, and marine engineering practices.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of maritime regulations and classification society standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, CADmatic, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365.
