WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the Edinburgh office

As part of our Edinburgh based team, you will lead one or more feature teams evolving our Digital Channel Servicing Lab offerings and services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven candidate who can provide hands-on engineering leadership and expertise to a full-stack mobile app team. You will be passionate and experienced in designing and delivering scalable web/mobile applications with key focus on our API ecosystem.
What will you be doing with us?
- As the SW Digital DevOps Lead, working with the Lab Engineering Lead and your peers, you will develop and execute a strategy to ensure the ongoing Resilience and Scaling of our Digital estate as we grow towards our target of 1M customers.
- Lead a team of SRE, DevOps and API engineers with a focus on resilience, scaling, predictable delivery and engineering excellence.
- Support the Release team to remove manual effort and toil from release processes - enabling more frequent release
- Collaborate with fellow leads, solution architects, UI/UX designers, and product owners to define roadmaps, technical designs and unblock delivery.
- Lead by example by being a hands-on contributor to the codebase and providing oversight and feedback via pull requests.
- Demonstrate leadership for microservices architecture and solution design with deep knowledge
- Provide line-management and personal development support for engineering team members

What you'll need
- Proven experience of modern application and software development approaches including automated testing, test driven development, continuous integration, pair programming, code review and version control
- Supporting the feature teams by building and managing pipelines / infrastructure / hosting on the Google Cloud Platform.
- Managing Kubernetes (GKE) clusters and configuring Helm templates
- Utilising a very strong DevOps skill set with expertise in tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, Nexus, and Git.
- Scripting in several languages (e.g. Groovy, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or Bash/Shell)
- Configuring deployment management tools e.g. Terraform, Chef
- A "can-do" attitude, capability of bootstrapping projects and ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary, internal, and external distributed teams across the project lifecycle
- Deep expertise in microservices (ideally TypeScript/JavaScript-based)
- Firm grasp of testing methodologies (Unit testing, UI testing, automation testing)
- Experience designing and evolving API contracts
And any experience of these would be really useful
- Experience of working with Docker or other containerisation technologies
- Experience of successfully implementing and using CI/CD pipelines
- Display a DevOps mindset and ability to use tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
