Key Accountabilities: Accountability: Entity Model Delivery End-to-end ownership of the Economic capital models for the assigned entities. Manage parameterisation, calculation kernel updates, and production runs. Key Performance Indicator(s): 100% on-time delivery of model runs for business planning and strategic milestones. Model outputs are structured to directly inform commercial decision-making. All model movements fully explained and attributed (P&L attribution). Accountability: Champion the commercial application of the economic model. Drive the understanding and application of return on capital metrics (e.g., framing RORAC practically as expected profit divided by capital) across underwriting and executive teams. Key Performance Indicator(s): Demonstrable integration of economic capital metrics into Business Planning, Pricing, and Reinsurance purchasing. High stakeholder engagement with model outputs. Accountability: Risk Delivery Align economic model validation and risk investigations with wider frameworks, applying a proportionate lens to the depth of testing required. Key Performance Indicator(s): Validation queries from the Risk Department are addressed pragmatically, with action plans prioritised by materiality and resourcing. Avoid over-engineering solutions to low-materiality findings Submission packs delivered for sign-off 48hours prior to deadline Accountability: Methodology & Consistency Lead Research & Development (R&D) initiatives for the economic model. Drive tight, data-led integration with Exposure Management, Pricing, and Reserving, ensuring the model functions as a dynamic financial tool rather than a static regulatory construct. Key Performance Indicator(s): Measurable deployment of R&D enhancements that improve the commercial accuracy of the model, particularly regarding tail-risk and exposure alignments. Accountability: Propose enhancements to capital modelling methodology and parameterisation process. Key Performance Indicator(s): Successful implementation of agreed Model Change items. Methodology changes approved by IMEG. Accountability: Lead the updating and setting of new model parameters Key Performance Indicator(s): Updated parameters are proposed based on the latest data Movements in results are explained Accountability: Continually develop understanding of the technical aspects of capital modelling concepts. Key Performance Indicator(s): Technical understanding is utilised to explain changes in results, and implement improvements to parameterisation and modelling methodology Concepts are explained well to others in the team and other stakeholders around the company if required Accountability: Reporting & Business Insight Production of internal capital reports and validation logs. Design and execute forward-looking Macroeconomic Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis to support the Group's risk appetite formulation and ORSA processes. Prepare appropriate materials for various internal committees. Effective input to the Business Planning and Internal Model processes and contribution to the achievement of the Group's Business Plan. Key Performance Indicator(s): Stakeholders confirm understanding of model outputs provided. Inputs to Business Planning delivered to Finance/Strategy on schedule. Stress testing scenarios are dynamic, clearly articulated to executive stakeholders, and directly influence strategic asset allocation and capital preservation decisions. Accountability: Flexible Support Actively contribute to the workload of other Capital Modelling Leads during peak periods or when activity is low, supporting regulatory submissions and general model updates. Facilitate cross-pollination of methodologies across the wider capital team. Ensure cutting-edge R&D, coding standards, or automation tools developed within the Economic model workflow are systematically transferred to enhance the efficiency of the wider department workflow during peak regulatory periods. Key Performance Indicator(s): Seamless integration into Entity/RI teams during peak periods. Assigned tasks from Entity/RI Leads completed to quality/deadline. Utilisation rate remains high throughout the year. Accountability: Documentation & Audit Trail Maintain robust, fit-for-purpose audit trails: Version control, Assumptions Logs, Expert Judgement Logs. Ensure documentation meets internal governance standards without imposing unnecessary operational drag. Professional Accreditation: Qualified Actuary (IFoA or equivalent). 7+ years of dedicated Capital Modelling experience. Demonstrable experience in driving model use and Embedding Model output Demonstrable experience leading model development and full cycle delivery Experience in line management and mentoring of junior analysts/students. Technical Competencies Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in capital modelling platforms (Igloo preferred, other modelling software experience is an asset) and Economic Scenario Generators (ESGs) Analytical Depth: Ability to perform deep-dive validation, explain result movements (attribution analysis) and justify expert judgements. Process Efficiency: Track record of improving modelling efficiency, coding standards, and automation of outputs Regulatory Proportionality: Working knowledge of Solvency II/UK frameworks (PRA, Lloyd's BMA). Ability to aspire to these standards while applying them proportionally to economic models, balancing theoretical best-practice with commercial resource constraints.
