Laboratory Technician

Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join a leading company in the mining industry based in the North of England. This exciting opportunity is offered on a 6-month fixed-term contract and provides a unique chance to contribute to pioneering work in the production of polyhalite, a multi-nutrient fertiliser marketed as Polysulphate. As part of their dynamic team, you will support critical analytical testing and quality control activities that underpin the production process. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for science and a keen eye for detail, looking to make an impact in a fast-paced, innovative environment within the mineral extraction sector.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support analytical testing and quality control activities related to polyhalite, fertiliser products, and rock salt samples.
• Perform chemical and physical testing according to internal quality standards.
• Prepare samples, reagents, and calibration standards to ensure accurate testing procedures.
• Record, analyse, and report laboratory data accurately using laboratory information systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols throughout all testing activities.

Role Requirements

• A Degree or higher level in Chemistry, Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Proven industry experience in a laboratory or analytical environment.
• A working knowledge and practical experience with basic chemistry and analytical techniques.
