Job Title: Graduate Laboratory Technician - Food Research & Manufacturing

Location: Maidenhead

Employment Type: Contract

Pay rate: Circa £15.50 per hour

Job Summary:

The Laboratory Technician will play a critical role in supporting the analysis and development of food products, ensuring all procedures follow strict GLP standards. This position is ideal for a recent graduate in Chemistry (or a related field) looking to build a strong foundation in the food science and manufacturing industry.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyse food samples using standard laboratory techniques (e.g., titrations, spectrophotometry, pH measurements, moisture/protein/fat analysis).
  • Perform chemical and physical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory activities in compliance with GLP.
  • Assist in the development and validation of analytical methods.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Support ongoing R&D projects with timely and precise analytical data.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and food safety regulations.
  • Participate in internal audits and quality assurance activities.


Requirements:

  • Degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience (academic or industrial), ideally involving food or chemical analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of sample preparation and analytical techniques.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and data recording accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
