Lab Technician

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Lab Technician for a contract role with a leading multinational food manufacturing client based in Reading.
Candidates need to have chemistry related knowledge.
A degree is not essential, but any qualification should be chemistry or be chemistry related.
Candidates need to be hands on, pragmatic and goal oriented.
They should be a team player and be happy to get stuck into a fast-paced environment.
This role is critical in supporting laboratory operations and achieving project goals.
The successful candidate will provide hands-on assistance, plan and perform routine activities, and contribute to the overall success of the laboratory.
Responsibilities:
- Under the guidance of senior team members, work independently and collaboratively to support the operation and goals of the laboratory.
- Provide high-quality customer service by ensuring effective organization of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data, and timely/accurate provision of results.
- Perform basic routine pharmacopoeial analysis using aseptic technique under supervision.
- Operate basic lab equipment as directed.
- Competently use generic and specific software packages required for the role, including the Laboratory's LIMS system and Q-Pulse.
- Perform lab admin and housekeeping duties as directed.
- Conduct experiments, complete assigned projects, or offer functional services under supervision.
- Assess data for compliance and take corrective measures when necessary.
- Assist in interpreting data and writing technical reports.
- Act as a technological resource in your technical area.
- Efficiently administer samples for scientific analysis by creating records, assigning analytical tests, and allocating samples for analysis.
- Maintain chain-of-custody for controlled samples.
- Input results and liaise with clients.
- Demonstrate high-quality customer service by ensuring work is done on time, analytical data reliability, and accurate and timely provision of results.
- Assist with routine checks/calibrations and control documentation to ensure the supply of the most current versions to analysts.

- Scientific background, either through education or technical apprenticeship.
- Experience working on teams and independently with the guidance of more senior team members.

- Competency in using relevant software applications.
